College of Education

The College of Education (CED) was established in 1962 as part of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and was mainly tasked to handle undergraduate programs. In 1980, it was tasked by DECS to supervise private schools which were implementing the New Elementary Schools Curriculum (NESC) in Central Luzon. Two years later in 1983, it emerged as a separate unit and was selected by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports as a pilot college in Region III.

The College started offering Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) in 1986 and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) in 1989. Specializations under the BEEd program include General Education, Preschool Education, and Special Education. The BSEd program offers eight areas of specialization namely, English, Filipino, Biological Sciences, General Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Values Education, and MAPEH. In 2011, Chinese Language Teaching (CLT) was offered as a BSEd double-major program in partnership with the Confucius Institute and the Fujian Normal University, People’s Republic of China.

Today, the College is a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education, PAASCU Level IV Accredited and ISO 9001:2008 certified by TUV-SUD.

From a small unit in 1962 that gradually emerged as a formidable college, CED has produced topnotchers, passers in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and hundreds of graduates who are now gainfully employed as educators and education managers.
