Program Description

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) program includes the study of computing concepts and theories, algorithmic foundations and new developments in computing. The program prepares students to design and create algorithmically complex software and develop new and effective algorithms for solving computing problems. The program also includes the study of the standards and practices in Software Engineering. It prepares students to acquire skills and disciplines required for designing, writing and modifying software components, modules and applications that comprise software solutions. The program offers the following area of specialization: Data Science and Game Development.

Program Learning Outcomes

PLO 1: Communicate effectively with the computing community with regards to current trends.

PLO 2: Make effective presentations to a range of audiences about technical problems and their solutions.

PLO 3: Recognize the legal and ethical standards in the utilization of computing technology.

PLO 4: Evaluate algorithms, to select from a range of possible options, to provide justification for that selection, and to implement the algorithm in a particular context.

PLO 5: Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer-based systems.

PLO 6: Evaluate, design, and develop a solution through software development and/or exploratory/experimental research for a computing problem.

PLO 7: Identify all the data, information, and knowledge elements and related organizations, for a computational science application.

PLO 8: Work effectively and independently in multidisciplinary and multi-cultural teams.

Career Pathways

DATA SCIENCE TRACK

  • Data Scientist - Analyze large datasets, build predictive models, and derive insights to support business decisions. Develop data-driven solutions to business problems.
  • Machine Learning Engineer - Develop and deploy machine learning models and algorithms for real-world applications.
  • Data Analyst - Examine and interpret data to provide valuable insights and recommendations. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns in complex data sets.
  • Business Intelligence Analyst - Analyze business data to identify trends and patterns. Create dashboards and reports to visualize data insights. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data need.
  • Data Engineer - Build and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses, and ETL processes. Ensuring data quality and integrity. Develop and manage data architectures.

GAME DEVELOPMENT TRACK

  • Game Designer -  Create game concepts, design levels, and define gameplay mechanics.
  • Game Developer/Programmer -  Implement the technical aspects of a game, such as coding gameplay elements.
  • Game Artist/Illustrator -  Design game characters, environments, and assets to bring the game to life visually.
  • Game Tester/QA Analyst -  Ensure the game is free of bugs and issues by testing and providing feedback.
  • Game Producer/Project Manager - Oversee the game development process, coordinate teams, and manage deadlines.

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program includes the study of the utilization of both hardware and software technologies involving planning, installing, customizing, operating, managing and administering, and maintaining information technology infrastructure that provides computing solutions to address the needs of an organization. The program prepares graduates to address various user needs involving the selection, development, application, integration and management of computing technologies within an organization. The program offers the following area of specialization: I.T. Infrastructure and Web & Mobile Technologies.

WEB AND MOBILE TRACK

  • Web and Applications Developer - Responsible for designing, building, and maintaining websites and software applications, ensuring functionality, performance, and user experience. Works with various programming languages, frameworks, and databases to develop, test, and deploy web solutions that meet business and user needs.
  • Database Administrator - Responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing databases to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and integrity. Oversees database design, backups, performance tuning, and access control to support business operations and protect sensitive information.
  • Systems and Software Developer - Designs, develops, and maintains software solutions and system architectures to meet user and business requirements. Writes, tests, and debugs code while ensuring performance, security, and scalability across various platforms and environments.
  • Computer Programmer - Writes, tests, and maintains code that enables software applications and systems to function effectively. Works with various programming languages to develop, debug, and optimize programs based on user and business requirements.
  • Quality Assurance Specialist - Ensures that software and systems meet quality standards by conducting tests, identifying defects, and verifying functionality. Works closely with developers to improve product reliability, performance, and user experience before deployment.
  • Systems Analyst - Evaluates business needs and designs IT solutions by analyzing system requirements, workflows, and processes. Acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that software and systems align with organizational goals.

IT INFRASTRUCTURE TRACK

  • Systems Administrator - Responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining an organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and security systems. Ensures system performance, troubleshoots issues, and implements updates to keep operations running smoothly and securely.
  • Network Engineer - Designs, implements, and manages an organization's network infrastructure to ensure seamless communication and data exchange. Monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues, and enhances security to maintain reliability and efficiency.
  • Information Security Administrator - Protects an organization's IT systems and data by implementing security measures, monitoring threats, and enforcing policies. Manages firewalls, access controls, and incident responses to prevent cyber threats and ensures compliance with security standards.
  • Systems Integration Personnel - Ensures that different software, hardware, and network systems work together seamlessly by designing, testing, and implementing integration solutions. Bachelor of Multimedia Arts

Program Description

Bachelor of Multimedia Arts (BMMA) aligns itself to the rapid convergence of media technologies and practices by developing conceptual, technical, aesthetic and professional competencies for effective, critical and innovative storytelling across a range or combination of media forms for various purposes.  The goal of the program is to develop within students the knowledge and skills that will enable them to communicate effectively, critically and creatively across a range of new media technologies and forms, and to develop multimedia projects with these qualities, for various purposes.  The program is concentrated on the following specialization: Animation and Graphic Design.

Program Learning Outcomes

PLO 1: Communicate and interpret ideas and objectives in a creativity, technical and visual forms effectively.

PLO 2: Design multimedia projects creatively, based on knowledge of multimedia and communication theories, aesthetic principles and approaches.

PLO 3: Critically evaluate and articulate the societal, aesthetic, communicative and ethical value of a multimedia project based on global trends and issues in multimedia technologies, design and practice.

PLO 4: Collaborate and demonstrate proficiency in the visual arts required in the production of multimedia projects effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

  • Graphic Designer – Creates visual concepts for branding, marketing, and advertising.
