The Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation is staging a weeklong celebration of the Chinese new year from February 8-13, 2010 in partnership with SM City Clark, it was announced by AUF president Atty. Joseph Emmanuel L. Angeles.
Dubbed Experience China 2010, the event kicks off with the opening of exhibits on February 8 at the SM City Clark Entrance Lobby which will feature unique interactive and electronic learning tools for mall goers to experience. On-the-spot tea-making, calligraphy and Chinese cooking will also be demonstrated. Famous Chinese symbols, images and art pieces will also be on display. A photo-me section with the Peking Opera as backdrop is another major attraction of the exhibit.
A cultural extravaganza by the AUF Performing Arts and Fujian Normal University (FNU) faculty members will cap the weeklong celebration on February 13 with a repertoire of love songs around the world, and traditional Chinese songs and dances.
The Confucius Institute at AUF was established last January in partnership with FNU and the Office of Chinese Language International (Hanban) to promote Chinese language, culture and arts, and to strengthen AUF’s institutional capacity to engage in inter-cultural activities with contemporary China .
To date, Hanban has established 282 Confucius Institutes in 88 countries around the world. Home universities include the University of California – Los Angeles ( USA ), University of Sheffield (UK), Waseda University ( Japan ), University of Auckland ( New Zealand ), Chulalangkorn University ( Thailand ), Nanyang Technological University ( Singapore ), University of Vienna ( Austria ), etc.
