Villarin, SJ, will be honored during the commencement exercises of the Angeles University Foundation College of  Business and Accountancy on April 28, 2012 in Angeles City, it was announced by AUF President Atty. Joseph Emmanuel L. Angeles. Father Jett will be conferred the degree, Doctor of Pedagogy, honoris causa, in recognition of his exemplary academic achievements and outstanding contributions to Catholic education and environmental protection. He  graduated with the degrees Bachelor of Science in Physics, magna cum laude and class valedictorian, at the Ateneo de Manila University in 1980; Master of Science in Physics at the Marquette University in Wisconsin in 1987; Bachelor of Sacred Theology , summa cum laude, at the Loyola School of Theology in 1991; and Doctor of Philosophy in Atmospheric Physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia in 1997. He has distinguished himself as a modern-day scientist imbued with a deep sense of social responsibility and unquestionable integrity having fearlessly promoted environment protection and preservation through his research works which earned for himself the following awards and distinctions: Outstanding Student Paper Award from the American Geophysical Union in 1995, Best Graduate Student Research Award from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997, National Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology in 2000, and the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize won by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which he was a member of .&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>AUF earns PAASCU Level 4 accreditation</title>

<description>&lt;p align=&quot;justify&quot;&gt;The Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) has granted Level IV accreditation to six academic programs of Angeles University Foundation (AUF), it was announced by AUF President Atty. Joseph Emmanuel L. Angeles.

 

PAASCU granted the highest accreditation status to AUF&acirc;s BS Biology, BS Psychology, AB Communication, BS Nursing, BS Elementary Education and BS Secondary Education programs.

 

&acirc;We are deeply honored to be granted this prestigious Level IV status by PAASCU, which, according to CHED, is only given to &acirc;very high quality academic programs in the Philippines . . with prestige and authority comparable to similar programs in excellent foreign universities,&acirc;&acirc; stated Atty. Angeles.

 

AUF is the only higher education institution in Central Luzon with PAASCU Level IV accreditation. It also enjoys ISO 9001-2008 Certification by TUV SUD, Autonomous Status and IQUAME Certification by CHED, and is the only Center for Excellence in I.T. Education and Center of Development in Nursing and Computer Engineering in the region, and one of only two Centers of Excellence in Teacher Education in Central Luzon.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>PRISAA all set for 2012 NC Games in Cebu</title>

Angeles. 

 

The opening ceremonies will be graced by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn F. Garcia and Cebu City Mayor Michael M. Rama. PRISAA National President Rev. Fr. Vicente Uy, SVD, will give the welcome remarks while PRISAA Secretary General Laureano S. Santos will present the various delegations. PRISAA National Executive Director Elbert C. Atilano, Sr. will administer the oath of sportsmanship to be followed by the declaration of the formal opening of games by Angeles.

 

PRISAA will also stage its 1st Annual General Assembly where awards will be presented to those who have faithfully supported PRISAA since its revival in 1990, on April 22, 7:00 pm at the Summit Circle Cebu. This will be participated in by all national and regional officers of PRISAA led by Angeles.

 

Hosted by PRISAA Region 7, the national games will see the gathering of 5,000 athletes, officials and coaches from the 17 regions who will be participating in 18 different sports and events until April 28. The search for the Mutya ng PRISAA 2012 and the Vocal Solo and Duet Competitions are slated on April 24 at the USC South Cultural Center, Cebu City.

 

PRISAA is the country&acirc;s largest national sports association with more than 400 member colleges and universities from all 17 regions. Since its revival in 1990 by Angeles and with very minimal support from government, it has been successfully staging city, provincial, regional and national competitions every year geared towards countryside youth development through sports. PRISAA boasts of having trained and developed sprinters Lydia de Vega and Elma Muros; famous cagers Jerry Codi&Atilde;&plusmn;era, Marlou Aquino and Joseph Feihl, among many others.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

AUF will confer upon Pascual a honorary doctorate degree in Pedagogy in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education having previously served as faculty and lecturer at the Ateneo de Manila University from 1973 to 1978 and the Asian Institute of Management from 1980 to 1989, and in his incumbent capacity as UP's 20th president,  responsible in overseeing fifteen campuses across the country with more than fifty thousand students and fourteen thousand faculty and staff.

 

Pascual initiated pioneering initiatives in the Asia-Pacific Region when he assumed important positions at the Asian Development Bank from 1989 to 2008 responsible in addressing the emerging financial and investment needs of Asia. In recognition of his numerous accomplishments, he was presented the following awards: Presidential Achievement Award by the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines in 1981 and 1983; Certificate of Recognition for Exemplary Performance by the Asian Development Bank in 2000; Project of the Year Award for the North Luzon Expressway by the Project Finance International, London in 2001; Innovation Award for the SME Sector Development Program in Pakistan by the Asian Development Bank in 2003; and Distinguished Alumnus Award by the U.P. College of Business Administration in 2009.

 

Pascual will address the graduating students of the AUF Colleges of Allied Medical Professions, Arts &amp; Sciences, Computer Studies, Education, Engineering and Criminal Justice Education.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
